This card that I am talking about is the 2013 Topps #595 SP David Ortiz. The card is the one where on the front he is making the speech after the Boston Marathon bombings took place. This is very near and dear to my heart because, I live about 35 minutes from Boston and I was very shocked that anyone would do something like that. The speech is included in the link and the FCC tweeted after the speech was read.

The card however is a great card. It was sent to me by my good friend over at Foul Bunt, William. He said it was no problem at all to send it to me and sometimes people do things very nice for other people. Well, I will do something in return for this William. Once I receive it from the seller, I am sending you a card that I purchased off of EBAY. This card is none other than the 2013 Topps Silver Slate Blue SP #62 Tommy Hunter Card. I know that he is a BIG Orioles fan and would love this card. Just as I loved mine from him.

To finish off this post, I only have one thing to say. "This is our Fucking City."

This card is very interesting because, just like the Emerald card, it has just one color and causes the player to pop out because of the uniform. I especially like this one because in the card, Headley is wearing the Throwback Padres unis. It makes it look cool with the dirt on the jersey, giving the illusion that the players actually try hard, unlike some players getting thrown out at first base.

On the back of the card, his stats are pretty consistent. In the past four seasons, he played in over 100 games per year. However, in 2011, his runs and hits totals were down. This was probably due to the fact that he only played in 113 games. He finished with only 110 hits. In 2012, he played in 161 games. He led the National League in RBI's with 115 and hit 31 long balls. According to Topps, "Chase's remarkable 2012 breakout saw him join Dave Winfield as the only Padres NL RBI leaders. He also broke a team record held by icon Tony Gwynn for games reaching base in a season." This was up 2 from 144 to 146 over Gwynn.
Today's card of the day is: 2013 Topps Emerald #541 Jon Lester. This card was chosen because of the design and the colors on the card itself. That, and the fact that Lester is pitching tonight against the Padres. The color red on the jersey is really brought out by the green background. Topps really did a good job on designing the cards for the 2013 set.

The facts that stick out to me on the back of the card are that in 2012, Lester was tied for the American League lead in hits allowed with 216. This gave him the best in the AL but was an increase of 50 hits from 2011. It was probably also because he didn't have that well of defense behind him with half of their team being traded away. He finished the year with a W-L record of 9-14. The previous year, he finished 15-9 with an ERA of 3.47. I blame it on Bobby Valentine. That is the only plausible response to the matter.
