Card of The Day: July 3rd, 2013

I thought of starting a "Card of The Day" section for this blog because I have seen it on many other blogs like mine. Today's card of the day is: 2013 Topps Emerald #541 Jon Lester. This card was chosen because of the design and the colors on the card itself. That, and the fact that Lester is pitching tonight against the Padres. The color red on the jersey is really brought out by the green background. Topps really did a good job on designing the cards for the 2013 set.

The facts that stick out to me on the back of the card are that in 2012, Lester was tied for the American League lead in hits allowed with 216. This gave him the best in the AL but was an increase of 50 hits from 2011. It was probably also because he didn't have that well of defense behind him with half of their team being traded away. He finished the year with a W-L record of 9-14. The previous year, he finished 15-9 with an ERA of 3.47. I blame it on Bobby Valentine. That is the only plausible response to the matter.

  1. I have the black parallel of this card. It looks great, also, with the red jersey and black glove. Really sharp card.
